PHYSICAL SCIENCE A NOTES

THE LAB REPORT

A lab report is a permanent record of everything that occurs during an experiment.

  • It must be written in blue or black ink (or typed)
  • don't erase mistakes or use white-out
    • cross out a mistake and initial it!
    • that "mistake" may be useful later
  • may not be recopied or re-typed (only the original is accepted)
  • one lab report per person (no group lab reports)
  • copying off a partner's lab report is not acceptable!
  • Your lab report should be so good that a person could pick it up and repeat your experiment without talking to you!
There are 9 sections of a lab report:
  1. Title
  2. Heading
  3. Problem
  4. Hypothesis
  5. Materials
  6. Hazards
  7. Procedure
  8. Data
  9. Conclusion
