Meet Miss Gurganus

My name is Kyla Gurganus, and I have been teaching at Lincoln High School for ten years.  I graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Michigan University in 1997 with a B.A. in professional chemistry with honors in general studies.  I received my teaching certificate in 1999 and am certified to teach chemistry and mathematics in grades 6-12 in Michigan.

School doesn't end for teachers!  I completed my Master's Degree in Children's Literature at Eastern Michigan University in 2005; now I am taking occasional classes at EMU combined with workshops and summer programs.

I have lived in Michigan for many years, but I was born in Florida.

I am a member of  Crossroads Community Baptist Church (a Southern Baptist church) in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and teach Sunday School there (kindergarten class).

Professionally, I am a member of the American Chemical Society, Metro Detroit Science Teachers Association, Phi Kappa Phi, the National Science Teachers Association, the Michigan Education Association, and the National Education Association.
