A chorus is a garden of voices, each one unique, beautiful, and important to the overall splendor.

“I don’t want to hear about the impact of music education on SAT scores, I want to hear
about how music touches the soul and stirs the imagination.”

Lincoln Middle School Choirs earn ratings of 'Excellent' for their performance at the 2012 District 12 Choral Festival:
Lincoln Middle School choirs traveled to Whitmore Lake High School Saturday March 17th, 2012 to participate in the MSVMA District Choral Festival.  The choirs performed 2 prepared pieces for their judges and then sight read a piece of music to demonstrate their reading skills.  Both 7th and 8th grade choirs received a rating of 'excellent performance' qualifying them for the 12th year in a row for state choral festival.

State Honors Choir Audition Results:

Congratulations to Elizebeth Swanson and Jessica Sparks who auditioned on Saturday, October 22 at Monroe Middle School for State Honors Choir.  The students had to learn, memorize, and perform their parts independently for a judge.  Based on scores from their performance They will sing in January at the state music convention in Grand Rapids.  We are so proud of you!

Parent Volunteers Needed
Helping out in small ways is a huge help!

I am in need of parents who would be willing to help with the following jobs:

Take digital pictures at choir concerts and events

  • 2 parents willing to come to each concert, take pictures of all the groups, close ups of individuals during the concert, candid shots of students prior to and after the concert (the more the better) and put them on a CD for Mrs. Micik to use on the choir website.

Video tape the concerts with the choir video camera

  • 2 parents willing to learn how to use the choir video cameras, arrive an hour early to each concert, and record the concerts for Mrs. Micik to use in the classroom and on the choir website.
  • Parents will need to attend one meeting the night prior to the first concert to learn to use the video camera, where to get it from the night of the concert, and what Mrs. Micik would like to be videoed.  The meeting will take place October 26th from 3:15-3:3:30 in the choir room at the middle school.

Help out with uniform checkout night

  • 3 female parents who have the ability to commit to all of the following dates and times:
    • Monday, October 3rd  2:45-3:15 to learn the checkout process
    • Tuesday, October 4th  2:45-5:00  Uniform check out night #1
    • Thursday, October 6th 2:45-5:00  Uniform check out night #2

Seamstress

  • Someone who can hem dresses for students who cannot afford to have their dress hemmed.

Concert Set-up/Clean-up

  • 3-4 parents to show up one and a half hours early to each concert to do the following:
    • Hang signs
    • Set up the stage
    • Help with student behavior
    • Pass out programs
    • Collect signs at the end of the concert
  • Parents will need to attend one meeting the night prior to the first concert to learn what needs to be done.  The meeting will take place October 26th from 2:45-3:15 in the choir room at the middle school.

If you have questions concerning any of the above responsibilities, or would like to volunteer, I can be reached at micik@lincolnk12.org
