INDUSTRIAL DESIGN - CUSTOM MANUFACTURING UNIT
see student designs DESIGN BRIEF see student designs
Using the nine steps in engineering problem solving, your current and future knowledge of CAD, your current and future knowledge of CAM, design a product to be manufactured using CAD/CAM technology. The design and manufacture parameters will be given by Mr. Nuzzo.
The design MUST be AUP appropriate as always.
The product must be made using CAD / CAM technology
The product design must fit the X,Y,and Z axis/limits of our Prolight 1000 vertical (CNC) machine. Limits TBA
The product must involve the use of an insert clock movement
(Further parameters TBA)
5. The product must involve at least two of the following CNC toolpaths: engraving
facing contouring drilling pocketing
The designer must use AutoSketch software to design the part(DXF file)
The designer must use SpectraCam software to create CNC toolpaths.
The designer must verify the CNC toolpaths using 3D verification software prior to PLM 1000
The manufacturing team leader (____________) may add/alter parameters as is necessary at any time
The designer shall create the necessary jigs/fixtures necessary to safely mill the product.
The student assumes responsibility for materials used in damaged or unacceptable parts.
The manufacturer may use materials from the LHS Technology Lab, or supplement them from other sources.
The manufacturer will make the necessary arrangements to acquire extra lab time(mill station) if needed.
