How to Access the LHS Media Center's Online Catalog:
To search the library's collection of materials, you must access the Online Catalog (OPAC).
Be logged-in to a LHS computer (only computers on the LHS network will access the database)
On the computer's desktop double-click the icon named "HS Online Catalog."
If the desktop does not have the icon, open the "Application Explorer" (aka, "Application Launcher") icon, find the application "HS Online Catalog" and open it.
When the catalog opens, type your search terms at the top in the search field and click the "author", "title", "subject", or "keyword" buttons depending on what type of search you want to do.
If you are doing a search on a general topic, start by using the "KEYWORD" button/square on the upper row of commands at the top of the screen. If this isn't working as well, try the same search term but click the "SUBJECT" button.
The OPAC is a web-based browser: just point and click with your mouse to select/open a record or link. Use the escape key (Esc) to return to the previous page.
If you are searching for a specific person or author, type only their last name first and then find it in the alphabetized list the OPAC generates.
Each record contains detailed information about the book as well as its availability and location on the shelves.
To locate materials, you must write down the title of the item as well as the call number (include all numbers and/or letters).
Call the LHS Media Center at extension 7820 if you have any questions.
